Strategy and direction

AI Strategy & Architecture: where AI belongs in your business, decided by people who build and run it

Your AI strategy and target architecture, set with people who build and run these systems in production. BtSavvy's architects work with your leadership to decide where AI belongs in your business and where it does not. They settle how far to take each use case and what it should cost to run. You get a prioritised portfolio with the value case for each opportunity, a target-state architecture, and a sequenced, costed plan. The result is written down as standards and designs that engineering consumes directly. It is the input to everything that follows, and the one service not delivered on FORGE.

A strategy is only as useful as what your engineers can do with it the week after it is approved. Ours is written by architects who draw on systems BtSavvy has built and run. The same architects can stay with the work when the building starts. The running cost of the architecture is worked out at design time, against a ceiling you agree before the shape of the system is chosen. The standards it sets are written as rules a build can be checked against. Each is checked for clarity, testability and conflicts before it is published. Every material decision is recorded with its rationale, the options considered, and the person accountable for it, yours or ours. When the plan leads to a build, delivery on FORGE checks what is built against what was decided.

What the client gets

The strategy. An honest read of where you stand across data, technology, talent and governance. It includes the AI applications already in use, even those built outside any approval step. Then a prioritised portfolio with the value case for each opportunity. Each one carries a build, buy or rent decision and a call on how far to take it. Where a service you would otherwise rent as SaaS should be built in-house, the plan says so, and what it would cost to own.

The architecture. A target-state enterprise architecture, with the modernisation, data and cloud-posture recommendations that follow from it. Measurable targets are set per customer promise as well as per system: speed, load, acceptable downtime, security, accessibility and cost to run.

The standards engineering consumes. The technology standards, pipeline standards, security controls and engineering guidelines you may not yet have. They are written as inputs FORGE-based delivery reads directly. Each names the team that owns it and decides any change to it. They stack, so an enterprise rule, a division's additions and a project's own choices serve a large organisation without being rewritten. Once FORGE enforces them, a proposed change lists the projects it would affect before anyone approves it.

A model policy. Which AI models may be used in your organisation, and on what terms. For each: provider, what it may read, retention, training use, region, and when the approval lapses. Work is specified against the role a model plays, so replacing a model or a supplier is an orderly change your governance already covers.

When to engage

Engage AI Strategy & Architecture when the board has set an AI mandate and there is no plan your engineers could act on. When the existing strategy predates agentic systems and needs to move forward from where it is. And when several teams are already building with AI and nobody has written down the rules they should share.

Accelerators on this service

Strategy engagements draw on tooling we built for the work. It covers structured discovery interviews, current-state assessment, portfolio and document synthesis, architecture option analysis, and plan generation. AI drafts the assessment and the option analysis; the architects decide. Your data and your intellectual property stay yours.

Adjacent services

You can buy AI Strategy & Architecture on its own. Its standards and designs guide Build, Data Foundation, Cloud and DevSecOps, which you can also engage with the standards you already have. For those services, BtSavvy engineers deliver on FORGE inside your repositories, cloud accounts and controls. Or your team builds with a forward-deployed engineer who teaches as they work. Governed Enablement takes the same guardrails to your business teams. Run and Assurance inherit the operational and governance requirements set here.

Three situations lead to AI Strategy & Architecture. A board mandate with no plan, a strategy that predates agentic systems, and teams building with AI without shared rules.
